What We Do

Most shops can replace a part. Few can tell you why it failed, redesign the system around it, test the fix under full load, and have it back to you in days. That's what MJ Hydrostatics does.

We specialize exclusively in piston hydraulics and hydrostatic systems. We don't work on everything — and that focus is exactly what makes us effective.

MJ Hydrostatics gives you manufacturer-level capabilities without the delays, red tape, or inflated costs. We rebuild, test, diagnose, and design complete hydraulic solutions. Most of your options can only sell you a part.

Hydrostatic Pump & Motor Repair and Remanufacturing

MJ Hydrostatics repairs and remanufactures hydrostatic pumps, motors, and transmissions for mobile and industrial equipment. Every unit is thoroughly inspected, rebuilt using quality parts, and performance-tested under load to verify proper operation before leaving our facility. Our experienced technicians deliver dependable, cost-effective solutions that reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

System Design & Engineering

Whether you're starting from scratch or improving an existing system that isn't performing the way it should, our engineering team works with you through the full design process.

We design hydrostatic systems from the ground up — hydraulic circuit layouts, component selection, filtration systems, electro-hydraulic controls, and proportional control valves — each engineered for your specific application and real-world operating environment.

For OEM manufacturers developing new equipment, we offer engineering support through prototype development, system integration, and pre-production testing. We can help you get a custom hydrostatic system to market faster and with greater confidence than working through a standard OEM channel.

Testing & Validation

We have three in-house test stands, including a 700 HP diesel dynamometer — one of the largest hydrostatic test capabilities available outside of an OEM facility. Every unit we remanufacture is performance tested before shipment. No exceptions.

Our test stands are equipped with data acquisition systems, allowing us to measure and document flow, pressure, efficiency, and performance across the full operating range. This means you get verified results, not assumptions.

Testing capabilities include:

  • Hydrostatic pump and motor performance verification
  • System pressure and flow validation
  • Efficiency and loss analysis
  • Pre-production prototype testing
  • OEM production acceptance testing

If you need a unit tested — whether we built it or not — we can do it.

Failure Analysis

Understanding why a failure happened is just as important as fixing it. Replacing a failed component without identifying the root cause is how the same problem comes back three months later.

Our team conducts thorough failure analysis on hydrostatic pumps, motors, and systems — documenting findings, identifying the root cause, and providing clear recommendations to prevent recurrence. We've worked through virtually every failure mode imaginable across 25 years: contamination, cavitation, overpressure events, heat damage, incorrect component selection, and more.

For OEMs and fleet operators dealing with recurring warranty claims or field failures, failure analysis is where we often provide the most value — identifying a pattern that changes how equipment is built, specified, or maintained going forward.

Conversions

Need to adapt an existing hydrostatic unit for a different application, machine, or operating condition? Our team has the engineering knowledge and hands-on experience to execute hydrostatic conversions with confidence.

One of the most significant advantages of working with MJ is speed. Because we can convert a known stock unit to meet your specific requirements, you can often get what you need in days or weeks — not the 5 to 12 months that custom OEM development typically requires. If you're building a prototype or bridging to a production design, that lead time advantage is substantial.

Distribution

MJ Hydrostatics is an authorized distributor for leading hydraulic and hydrostatic manufacturers. We maintain inventory and provide direct access to components from the brands that matter in this industry.

Our distribution relationships include LHY Powertrain, Linde Hydraulics, Bondioli & Pavesi, Hydro-Leduc, Parker Hannifin, Danfoss, Bosch Rexroth, Eaton, ASA Coolers, Sunfab, and Eskridge Gearboxes, among others.

Because we're also a repair, remanufacturing, and engineering facility — not just a parts counter — we can help you identify the right component for your application, not just fill an order. If you're unsure what you need, that's exactly the kind of question we're set up to answer.

Heat, Contamination & Filtration

Heat and contamination are behind the majority of premature hydrostatic failures. Most of the time, they're also preventable — if the system is designed, specified, and maintained correctly.

Our team diagnoses and resolves heat buildup, contamination problems, and filtration deficiencies in hydrostatic systems. We identify the source — whether it's an undersized cooler, a bypass valve issue, incorrect fluid viscosity, a contaminated reservoir, or inadequate filtration — and provide solutions that address the problem at the root, not just the symptom.

If your equipment is running hot, consuming fluid, or experiencing repeated component failures, it's worth a conversation before you replace another pump.

Not sure where to start?

If your hydrostatic system isn't performing the way it should and you're not sure why, call us. We've been solving these problems for 25 years. Chances are we've seen it before.
